Programme now available

IV Workshop on Development Economics in Spain

26–27 October 2026 · Universidad de Alicante

The fourth edition of the SPANDE Workshop brings together 19 papers and two keynote lectures over two days in Alicante, with research drawing on evidence from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Keynote lectures will be delivered by Cátia Batista (Nova SBE) and Jonas Hjort (University College London & University of Oslo).

Sessions cover labor markets, firms and entrepreneurship; environment and natural resources; human capital; and gender, migration and anti-poverty programmes. A dedicated PhD session features work by early-career researchers.

The workshop is organized by SPANDE and the Departamento de Fundamentos del Análisis Económico (FAE), Universidad de Alicante.

Registration is required by 30 September 2026. Places are limited and a registration fee applies. To register, contact spande.workshops@gmail.com.

II SPANDE Impact Evaluation Days held at CUNEF Universidad

CUNEF Universidad reports on the II SPANDE Impact Evaluation Days, held on 1–2 June 2026 at its Campus Almansa in collaboration with J-PAL Europe. The programme combined practical training in impact-evaluation methods with project presentations, panels and group work designed to strengthen collaboration between researchers and third-sector organizations.

Mission

To promote an open, diverse academic community in Spain dedicated to the study of development economics, encouraging the exchange of ideas, data, methodologies, and opportunities for early‑career researchers.

What We Do

We organize annual workshops, thematic seminars, and PhD flash talks, connecting the community with partner institutions and sharing vacancies, calls, and resources.

Community

Members from universities across Spain and Europe. Researchers in development economics or related fields are welcome to join the network.

Collaborators

Fundación Ramón Areces, CUNEF University, and other academic partners. Institutions interested in collaboration are encouraged to contact us.
